Learn About Our CO2 Extraction + Lab Process

Last week’s post detailed company values and partnerships that make us stand alone. This week, we’re switching to a science-based lens — our lab and extraction process. 

An exorbitant amount of information, much of it conflicting, exists on the internet about various hemp extraction methods. So, many years ago, we decided to take matters into our own hands to find out — through our own direct experience — which one was best. 

After dedicating years to testing different methods, we stand firmly behind our choice in using CO2 extraction. 

Yes, there is evidence that other forms of extraction are also effective. 

But when we really broke it down, CO2 was consistently yielding the purest, highest-quality CBD (found in our Fortify oils and treat supplements) with the most cannabinoids and terpenes remaining (in our Spectrum oils). Every time. 

CO2 ensures that no toxic residual solvents are left over in our final products, including butane or any harmful chemicals that could negatively affect the health of your pet. 

We’ve even purchased other companies’ products, which use other means of extraction, and lab-tested them for comparison’s sake. And we’re still standing by CO2.

But it’s the way we’ve dialed-in our lab-testing that really makes us stand alone. All of our products are third-party lab tested at a Health Canada-licensed facility. We take our testing very seriously — so much so that we were lab testing before hemp-based pet companies were aware that this stage was vital in addressing a product’s purity. 

We’ve tested all the potentials. We’ve sourced from different supply chains, tested them all in various labs (please note that not all labs are created equally), and determined what combination proved to be most proficient and consistent — and would guarantee the most accurate data on our product COA (Certificate of Analysis) reports.

To us, testing is the beginning stage of knowing what your products contain. If a product doesn’t make it through the testing stage, or yields results that aren’t completely pure, it is neither trustworthy, nor is it something you should be depending on for the health and well-being of your pet. 

In fact, unclean extraction practices and incompetent lab-testing and analyses can actually be quite harmful to your pet. Think hemp-based pet companies with far lower price points — there’s a reason these products are more affordable. Costs must be cut elsewhere in order to offer a product at a lower price. 

As the manufacturers of premium CBD products that improve the quality of life of animals,  how could we settle for anything less than the absolute best? We’re talking about something that is being ingested — twice daily — by a being who is dependent upon your complete care, and whom you love unconditionally.
