CBD FOR GI ISSUES IN ANIMALS

With gastrointestinal (GI) and stomach issues being among the leading animal health concerns, more pet parents across Canada are turning to CBD for help.

COMMON GI ISSUES IN DOGS + CATS

  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea + Vomiting
  • Food Intolerances
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Gas + Bloating
  • Blockages in the Colon

CAUSES OF GI ISSUES IN PETS

GI complications in animals can be caused by a variety of factors.

For some animals, exposure to various elements is a culprit, including the presence of parasites, bacteria, access to bad water, traveling, changes to daily routines, allergies to certain types of foods (commonly dairy) or the introduction of new supplements.

For others, physical ailments like hemorrhoids (constipation), intestinal blockages, pregnancy, colon cancers, stress and other conditions can contribute.

Animals may also experience GI issues as side effects of certain medications prescribed for other illnesses.

HOW CAN CBD HELP?

Regardless of what type of intestinal trouble your pet is having, CBD has been shown to support the regeneration of a healthy GI tract.

A vast majority of GI issues stem from inflammation in the organs around the GI tract, and CBD has been studied extensively for its ability to reduce inflammation.

CBD is also known to help ease pain — and for many animals with digestive conditions, the gut will not regulate normal intestinal activity as it was intended to. This unbalanced tract can lead to cramps, pain, spasms and even intestinal paralysis. When these symptoms arise, animals with a depleted Endocannabinoid System (ECS) cannot regulate inflammation any longer. But the introduction of CBD has been shown to rebalance the ECS, as well as reduce inflammation and associated pain in the GI tract and colon.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is another condition that CBD has been shown to help, by its ability to regulate what’s known as the neuroimmune axis. Overactive immune responses in an animal’s gut can create proliferation of enteric glial cells, which can heighten inflammation and worsen existing GI problems. But studies have shown that CBD can counteract this phenomena, and may lessen the potential for long-term damage to the GI system.

WHICH CREATING BRIGHTER DAYS PRODUCT IS BEST FOR MY PET’S GI ISSUES?

We recommend our Fortify CBD Isolate oil when an animal is experiencing mild-to-moderate health conditions or symptoms. A CBD isolate product contains only the CBD molecule, is THC-free, and serves to help most general health concerns.

However, when symptoms have become more severe or extreme, we recommend our Spectrum oils, which contain the full range of compounds found in the hemp plant (including trace amounts of THC, but not nearly enough to produce an intoxicating effect in an animal). The purpose of keeping all these compounds together is that they work together, symbiotically, to increase potency and efficacy for pets with more complex conditions.

Who We Are — At Creating Brighter Days, we help care for your pet’s quality of life by offering nothing less than premium, restorative CBD wellness products. Our custom-tailored, vet-approved CBD formulations for cats, dogs and horses contain therapeutic cannabidiol, medicinal herbs, and organic, non-GMO superfoods.

How It Works — All of our CBD Pet products support animal wellness by harnessing the medicinal benefits of pure, hemp-derived CBD, which has been shown to reinforce longevity, digestion, immunity, skin health, stress, pain, and other common ailments. Select CBD Pet products also feature adaptogens, which level the stressors that lead to inflammation — a root cause of various illnesses in dogs, cats and horses. For care of animals with more advanced and complex issues, our Full Spectrum blends offer CBD in addition to other cannabinoids, which merge together and create an entourage effect in an animal’s endocannabinoid system. The result? Quality nutraceutical products that heal and rejuvenate your pet.
