There is only one CBD oil contender when it comes to treating epilepsy, seizures and other convulsive disorders — a full spectrum CBD product.
What about CBD isolate? Broad spectrum CBD oil? When it comes to epileptic conditions, only full spectrum CBD products have been shown to yield the most health benefits.
Our Spectrum line is a full spectrum CBD oil, meaning all of the naturally-occurring cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds (including trace amounts of THC) found in the hemp plant make their way into the final product. There is growing evidence that full spectrum CBD oil can be more effective for some animals and in some circumstances. This is due to what’s known as the entourage effect, where all the available compounds work together to be more effective.
You needn’t worry about the presence of THC in this product. Our full spectrum CBD only contains miniscule amounts (0.3%), which, when administered at our recommended dose per weight, has absolutely no potential to create any sort of intoxicating effect. The presence of THC is merely to support all the other compounds found in the hemp plant, which, when working together symbiotically by way of the entourage effect, support animals even more than what a CBD isolate or broad spectrum CBD oil product could do alone. Thus, a full spectrum CBD product assists animals who have more complicated/serious conditions.
The antiepileptic effects of full spectrum CBD oil have been studied extensively in both humans and, more and more, in animals.
Studies have shown that when CBD oil is ingested, more cannabinoids are introduced to an animal’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) — which can improve the functioning and performance of the ECS by providing neuroprotective properties. (More about the ECS in the next section).
And because the ECS also controls neuroexcitation, which is a process that has been shown to trigger convulsions and seizures, bolstering the ECS with additional cannabinoids found in full spectrum CBD oil may prevent any overexcitation of neurons, thus preventing seizures.
Full spectrum CBD products also provide anti-inflammatory properties, and because many seizure episodes begin due to brain inflammation, decreasing neuroinflammation means potentially reducing frequency and severity of seizures.
When any convulsive disorder presents, an underlying or root cause relates to the fact that, on some level, an animal’s ECS is compromised or has fallen out of balance. And because the ECS is the operating system that controls and maintains the health and function of every anatomical system in a mammal’s body, keeping it working properly is hugely important.
Epilepsy is considered to be a severe condition, and so we target it by using the most potent CBD product (full spectrum CBD) and also by administering on a consistent program.
ECS‘ that need more support require the presence of full spectrum CBD daily — without skipping any days — and also more than one time per day (every 12 hours, or twice a day).
